Analyzing Breaches & Threat Landscape 2022
2022 saw a huge up-rise in the number of events directly or indirectly involving data breaches, social engineering attacks (especially this attack vector which doesn't receives its fair share of respect), organizations getting hacked, demands for ransom, theft of PIIs, critical and other sensitive data, classified secrets being released publicly which were part of either state sponsored adversaries or by ill-motivated black hat groups.
Industry wise share representation of these attacks & data breaches
As we can observe IT, Communications were the most hit and affected industries.
Nature of Attacks
Social Engineering combined alongside Insider Threats constitute the major chunk of execution of these attacks. Technical misconfiguration including but not limited to exposing servers (as was in the case of Microsoft) were equally responsible.
